THE JOY OF DANCE - CAPT AJIT VADAKAYIL
Indian dance has always been full of joy.
The lyrics of the songs had meaning, the music touched the heart, there was grace -- it was a complete package. Even the movement of a finger or an eyebrow had meaning.
Lately we have been westernised our dances -- do we need to ape?
Do we need all this jerky gymnastics and acrobatics?
If we need to see all this we can go to the circus or go for a gymnastics event, right?
I do hope Indian dance is NOT reduced to cartwheels and somersaults, tip-toeing , stretching out legs asunder and swirls --
